| St Oswald’s House in Newcastle is an established adult Hospice. A new children’s wing has been opened and The Greenfingers garden scheme addresses the needs of the youngsters. The gardens are constructed in an area adjacent to the new wing, previously an unusable wilderness.
The Hospice staff indicated that many of their teenage charges are, in common with virtually every Newcastle teenager, devoted to their local football club and enthusiastic followers of the game. The design thus includes a specially surfaced wheelchair football pitch.
A Peaceful Garden is also provided, along with grassed areas and a water feature.
The design for St Oswald’s was by Arum Landscape Design and the work carried out by Graeme Johnson Landscapes.
