   Shooting Star, Hampton

Shooting Star, Hampton is a new hospice, which opened in the autumn of 2005, mainly thanks to the tremendous efforts of its founder, Kate Turner, and its CEO, Dalton Leong - both dynamic personalities.

The Hospice is placed in a suburban setting, next to a school. The grounds are surrounded by a 6ft. timber panel fence within which promotional gardens, originally displayed at Hampton Court Flower Show, have been replanted. Greenfingers was invited to create a garden scheme in the remaining ‘Courtyard’ area, a semi-circular site framed by the curved wall of the hospice building. A water feature and four raised beds were to be included in the design.

Greenfingers invited Clare Matthews Garden Design Limited to prepare proposals. Clare Matthews is a young, leading children’s garden designer who has worked with Greenfingers in the past. The design was agreed and the garden constructed by Transform, a local contractor that has worked for The Greenfingers Appeal before.

The reaction of the staff to the works has been one of excitement and appreciation, with many volunteering to help out with the labour required to build it.

Our special thanks go to all major donors of materials – Bradstone, Hanson, Louis Poulsen and Rolawn.
