   Little Haven, Westcliffe-on-Sea

This Children’s Hospice had a well laid out garden, but had been offered a garden by Countryside Properties. This garden had been exhibited at the Tatton Park Show and won a silver medal.

The Hobbit Garden has a circular door apparently leading into the earth mound behind it with a path up to it – and a huge carved statue of Gandalf the Wizard guarding its entrance.

The staff at Little Haven were delighted to accept it and we, the Greenfingers Appeal, were pleased to assist David Fountain (of Countryside Properties) in creating the mound, erecting and building the garden.

The design was by David Fountain and we were able to help due to donations made by:

  • Crawley Turf Supplies - Turf
  • LBF Supplies - Top Soil
  • Travis Perkins - Sand
  • Bradstone - Paving

The garden was opened on Monday, 7th April 2003, by Kim Wilde and Peter Seabrook.
