Helen
House already had an established garden when they approached
the Greenfingers Appeal, but what they really needed
in addition to this was a Children’s play area.
The
site was originally an unsightly plot of weeds in front
of the hospice and although small still had room for
plants as well as play equipment.
The project took a month to complete,
cost a total of £10,000 and includes a wooden
adventure play area with tunnels for the children to
climb through and a slide.
Catherine
Wilson, public relations officer for Helen House, said
“We are incredibly grateful to Greenfingers.
We simply could not have afforded to do this without
the money the Appeal provided and we would still have
a horrible piece of wasteland in front of the house.
During good weather, this place will come into its own
and provide the children with somewhere nice to play
outside, instead of being on top of each other in the
house.”
