Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county.
The gardens were completed soon after the hospice in 2004 and provide areas for quiet contemplation as well as play. They are easily accessed from the children’s rooms and have been planted with colour and scent in mind. A series of arches and walkways link the various parts of the gardens together and allow wheelchair access throughout.
The garden was built by contractors appointed by the buildings architects with funds donated by the Greenfingers Appeal.
