SupportersGreenfingers – the garden industry charity

The Greenfingers Appeal was launched in November 1998 by garden writer and broadcaster Richard Jackson and a team of volunteers drawn from all sectors of the gardening industry.

Growers, plant breeders, retailers, manufacturers and a host of gardening journalists and celebrities have willingly contributed materials, time and expertise to make the Appeal an instant, and lasting, success.

According to Charity Commission figures, the Greenfingers Appeal is amongst the top ten percent of UK charities.

Celebrity support

Celebrities supporting Greenfingers have been magnificent:

  • Alan Titchmarsh backed our first quiz
  • Charlie Dimmock endorsed our 2006 Greenfingers Gardening Gloves
  • Tommy Walsh is fronting our Schools Sunflower Challenge
  • Peter Seabrook is endorsing our Greenfingers Lapel Pins

The support of these and others is ongoing and a vital contribution to the continuing success of the Appeal.

Garden industry support

Over 300 companies within the gardening industry including manufacturers, growers, wholesalers and retailers play a vital role.Their contributions take many different and innovative forms: special retail promotions where donations are made for every pack sold; the provision of garden planning and gardening expertise; donating plants, building materials and goods for the gardens.
